Winter Teams Update January 26th 2017

All Teams will have practice at Wintergreen this weekend Jan 28th and 29th

The Freeride team will have practice here and also a competition at Seven Springs PA

The D-team will have practice here, The D-team mid-season race has been postponed until next weekend February 4th-5th. We hope to have Eagle Swoop width back so we can hold that race.

The Race team will have practice here we will ski with SL skis both days. Coaches will focus on drills.

The hope is that snow making weather returns tonight. Snow making will be on going this weekend. This will make it tough to set gates as we lost a lot of snow this week.

Also it has been determined by our management group because of the weather forecast and where we are with snow making that Big Acorn will not be open for skiing by Feb 11th and 12th. Therefore we decided to let Sugar Mountain take that weekend to reschedule the Qualifying race. It is a tough Winter for snow making and a lot of thought was put into this decision. It is not easy to cancel all of the events this season but the reality of what we are facing is hard to ignore. Thank you for your understanding.

Race for Richard

Richard Wyly was a big supporter of Wintergreen Racing and was well known for the photographs he took at all of the races and made available to the entire SARA racing community.  To keep his memory alive and help others who might have to one day fight against cholangiocarcinoma, the Wyly family is selling “Race for Richard” “Carve Toward a Cure” t-shirts for $25 with all proceeds going to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation ( ) to further research and come closer to finding a cure. Please see the enclosed flyer for details on how you can support Race for Richard – Carve Toward a Cure – the t-shirts will be unveiled at the Wintergreen home race February 11&12.

Winter teams update January 2 2017

This update is for the Wintergreen Race Team

Important race location change for Weekend January 7th and 8th.

The race scheduled at Massanutten for Sunday January 8th has been moved to Bryce Resort. So Bryce will have a SL on Saturday for all age classes and a GS on Sunday for all age classes.

We will have GS practice at Wintergreen this Saturday 7:45 am to help get our athletes ready for the GS at Bryce on Sunday. We encourage all athletes to race GS at Bryce on Sunday. The GS format is an easier start for first time and younger USSA athletes. For these reasons there will not be race team practice on Sunday at Wintergreen as our coaches will be at the Bryce GS race.

If you choose to participate in the SL race at Bryce on Saturday we encourage you to do so however we ask that you please reply and let us know so we can plan coaching for the event.
