Wintergreen Ski Race and Freeride Camp @ Mount Hood, Oregon 2016

On snow July 3th-9th 2016

Wintergreen coaches have always seen dramatic improvement in our Team members participating in summer camps. This summer we will again offer our Wintergreen Summer Race and Freeride camp to skiers and snowboarders in Mount Hood Oregon.

A day at race camp at Mount Hood starts with;

  • 5:30am Wake up, breakfast
  • 6:30am Load Vans to the mountain.
  • 7:00am Load lift to the top of the Palmer Glacier (takes about 20 minutes).
  • 7:30am-11:00am- on snow training.

 We will have a private training lane for our race team and private features for Freeride training. We will have combinations of drills, gates, timing and free ski with video for both teams.

We will take the vans back to the town of Government Camp at noon and eat lunch. Afternoon activities will include hiking, swimming, fishing, windsurfing, rafting and other. Government Camp is the name of a very small town that sits on the south side of Mount Hood just below the tree line about half way up the mountain. There are lots of outdoor recreation opportunities just outside the door.

Evenings will be spent relaxing after dinner and most people find an early bedtime makes the early morning wake ups much easier.

 Lodging will be provided at Collins Lake Resort in the Town of Government camp. Please check out their website to see the unique atmosphere they provide.

The camp is open to ages 8 and above; D-team, Race team and Freeride Team (D-team members who have not attended camp will need to be approved by Chris Shepard. D-teamers are encouraged to participate in this camp and should be considered a needed step for moving up to the race team).

Registration fee for the trip includes Transportation to and from airport, Lodging, Meals, Lift tickets, Training lane, coaching, supervision and afternoon activities including rafting. There is usually one afternoon option to visit the local adventure park that has Bungee jumping, Go-Carts, Alpine slide etc. There is an extra charge for this option. We usually get a group rate.

Air fare is a separate cost. Flights must have arrival times that allow for transport vans to be used. Anyone who wishes to arrive at a different time will be responsible for their own transport to Mount Hood.

Please use the form on the next page to register and book your spot.

Parents are encouraged to participate and will pay the same cost as racers unless the parent does not plan to ski. If a parent does not plan to ski the price would be reduced by the cost of lift tickets and coaching ($1875.00-$400.00=$1475.00).

Three Bedroom condos with pull out sofas are designed to hold six people. Any special lodging requests will be accommodated with an appropriate charge.

 *To use our transport vans from the Portland airport to Mount Hood;

  1. Your flight must arrive in Portland on July 2nd before 2pm
  2. Your flight must depart Portland on July 10th after 10:00am

The preceding times are set so that vans can make one trip with all passengers and luggage and so that no one has to sit around for hours waiting for others that might arrive at other times of the day or evening. If you want to rent a vehicle to have for transportation while you are at Mount Hood then your flight can arrive anytime.

Please contact me via email with any questions you might have or to email register and book your spot.
