I just looked into the lodging for the races at snowshoe on Jan 10 and 11.
It can be quite expensive. I am not sure at which mountain (Snowshoe or Sivler Creek) the races will be held.
The best deal I found and booked, was a two bedroom condo at the mountain lodge. It has a reserved lo, so if you have to drive down to Silver Creek for a race you will have spot to come back too in the eveneing. It is also very close to the Central Village where all the restaurants are located.
Just post a comment back as to where you are staying.
Freestyle Annual Ski Swap Dates: Saturday and Sunday November 1st and 2nd. Equipment that you want to sell may be dropped off at Freestyle in Charlottesville starting Saturday October 25th. Freestyle staff will check in your gear, store it for you until the Swap and get it out on Swap day. Whatever you sell will be kept track of at Freestyle and you will get store credit at 100% of the sales price.
This is a great time to buy and sell used gear! Normally we have a few race coaches, along with Freestyle staff on hand to help you with any race gear questions.
I will also have a list developed soon for race gear that is available from team parents to be put on our team web site. That will also be a great place to list gear for sale for all to view. I’ll have the format up soon!
The new 08-09 season race gear has arrived at Freestyle, boots and skis are in and we will have team pricing with-in the next week. Please remember to call Freestyle for a boot fitting appointment prior to your arrival. Boot fitting takes time and is difficult to accomplish correctly with limited time or on Swap weekend.
More information to follow soon! Please remember to check the team web site for information and reminders from Chris. www.wtgraceteam.org
Thanks

One of the best ways to stay fit in the off season is swimming, and running and Biking.
I am going to stay fit by training for and competeing in a few triathlons.
June 1 is breezy point in norfolk and there are two in Charlottesville during June and July.
Let me know if you want some training guidlines and will help you out.
Thanks

Letter to the Members:
First, I’m writing to thank everyone who helped make last weekend’s races such a success. This includes the parent volunteers, Chris and his staff, and Gordon Hahn who quite simply provided the best “announcing” and background music I’ve ever heard at a ski race. Way to go Gordon … the Beatles were awesome.
Special thanks are due Wintergreen for making terrain available, and the mountain operations team for making that terrain suitable for a race. Did you see how much of Big Acorn they sacrificed to push enough snow over to build a race course? Please make a point of thanking Jay Roberts and his team when you get a chance; they work very hard so that we can play.
Second, remember that we have another race, J4-6 Championships, coming up on March 1st and 2nd. We’ll need lots of volunteers to make this race happen, so please help us out. Sandy Davis will be sending out a volunteer signup schedule next week. If you can’t volunteer, come out and cheer the racers on, both on the slopes and at the banquet.
Third, for those of you who donated items for last year’s silent auction, if you signed the form we circulated at the annual meeting, your tax receipt is on its way. If you didn’t sign that form, please let Sandy Davis know what you contributed so we can get your receipt to you.
Finally, race season has been extremely busy, and we simply weren’t able to get this year’s silent auction organized for Presidents’ Day weekend. We now plan to run the auction during Championships, and will have a table set up at the banquet, and perhaps during race day registration. Rick Metsch is skiing in
Sincerely,

I am looking for a size 14 wintergreen race team jacket and pants.
Dear J1-J3 Parents: We are already looking forward to Champs at Massanutten on 2/23 & 2/24. Since we always have so much fun when we’re together, we thought we would offer an opportunity to book lodging for champs as a group. We have a block of rooms reserved available for check-in Friday 2/22 and check-out Sunday 2/24 at the Holiday Inn on 33 in Harrisonburg. For those Hilton/Marriott fans, there is a large band festival in town that weekend and many other hotels were sold out of rooms with two beds. The Holiday Inn has been just been fully renovated (all furnishings & bedding are brand new), it has a restaurant and lounge on site and has an indoor pool!
The rate for our group will be $79.00/night. The website quotes the same available rate but requires an advance purchase. Our rate just requires a credit card to hold the reservation but NO advance purchase is required. We’ve reserved rooms with two beds but if you prefer one, just mention that when you call.
If you would like to join in on this group booking, simply call the Holiday Inn directly at 540-433-2521 and ask to book a room with the Wintergreen Race Team. Please also email me to let me know that you are booked so I may monitor how many rooms we are holding.
Here’s the link if you would like hotel info: www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/1/en/hotel/HBREM/welcome
Please feel free to email me or call me at 434-825-5159 if you have any questions about this group booking. We’re looking forward to seeing you there!

The Race Team has a couple of opportunities this weekend. First we will have practice here both days. We will practice GS on Saturday and Slalom on Sunday. There is also a race at snow shoe on Saturday for J 4 5 and 6 ages only. Also there is a J 1 2 and 3 ages GS race on Sunday. If you are looking for SARA points to carry into championships it would be a good opportunity to do that. Please let me know what your plans are as far as racing this weekend and where you will be so I can let coaches know. Thank you

The Development team will have practice at Wintergreen this weekend both days this weekend 1/26 & 1/27 7:45am-11am.
The Race team will travel to Sugar Mountain this weekend for a SARA points SL race on Saturday and a GS race on Sunday.
Special instructions for Race Team!
You will be able to register at Sugar for the races Friday evening 6pm-9pm or Saturday Morning 7am-8am. Registration location is the third floor of the main lodge.
You have an option to do only one GS race on Sunday so that you can get on the road home sooner.
If you choose to just race one race you need to let the folks at registration know that you will only be racing in one race so you will only be charged for one. When the race starts you will not be on the first race start order. You will be on the second race start order and you will run in the second and third runs. That will be your race and you can then leave for home. Everyone should register for and race in both Slalom races on Saturday. Robert Sandy and I will be there to help you understand this process. Please do not waffle on your decision to race one or two GS races on Sunday and please remember to let the folks at registration know what you are up to.
See you there! Anyone looking to contact me at the Sugar races my cell # is 434-989-2541.
