Welcome to the Wintergreen Alpine Race Team

The Wintergreen Ski Race Team is going into its 18th season at Wintergreen Resort. The team is very strong once again with a lot of dedicated racers coming back to pursue top place finishes in our region. Ski racing in the south is an opportunity for dedicated kids to participate in a very unique and challenging sport. Wintergreen plans to continue to promote ski racing by offering the best coaching and training conditions in the region. The program is designed to help kids set goals, learn to be self disciplined in preparation for events and be competitive while supporting teammates and competitors. The social setting is very positive as families get to know each other by traveling to races and working together in volunteering to help with events and training.

Change to Race Schedule for Sunday Jan 10th

The race schedule has changed. At the beginning of season we advised that we would ski as a team on January 10 th. We said that J1s 2s and 3s would ski the GS at Snowshoe and J4s 5s and 6s would ski the GS at Massanutten.

Two changes have occurred since; 1. Snowshoe changed their race to a Slalom and 2. Massanutten opened their GS race to J3s.

We now are asking that J3s 4s 5s and 6s register for and race at the GS at Massanutten on Jan 10 th. J1s and 2s can still race the SL at snowshoe on Jan 10 th. We will have coach there if we have kids signed up.

Registration for both of these races will close Tuesday Jan 5 th so go to sararcing.org and register now. Thank you.

The Wintergreen coaching staff will make every effort to make sure that all of this time is effective in your development. Wintergreen resort will continue to provide terrain for gate training, special lift line access (during practice times), gate setting and maintenance, and other practice/training support. Please help us help you by being to practice on time, staying for the full practice, listening and giving 100% effort and trying to be the best ski racer you can be.

There will be some changes to the program this year.

  • Coaches will be assigned to age groups. We will make every effort to keep coaches assigned to three age groups. J1 and 2. J 3 and 4 and J 5and 6. We will announce on our first practice, November 28 th and 29 th , which coaches are assigned to which group.
  • Training course time will be split by age groups. This will help with long lines but it will be much more important to be at practice on time and not leave or you could miss your age groups course time.
  • Every effort will be made to get a specific age group coach to each race.

Wintergreen Winter Teams Update

November 2, 2009

Race team, Freeride team and Development team members can go online and register for programs now. Click here to go to the website. Under the team you wish to join click on the “buy it now” button. Follow the instructions to complete the process.

Returning Team members should go ahead and register now. We will add a late fee to returning team members who have not registered by November 27 th.

Freeride team members are encouraged to sign up for USASA membership. Click here to go to the registration website.

Wintergreen will host a USASA Slopestyle/slalom event this winter. WTG Freeride athletes are encouraged to participate in USASA events. Click here to go to the schedule of events and more information on USASA in this region.

All returning Race team members should have USSA membership renewed by now. The new SARA website is up and you can go check it out and register for SARA membership by clicking here. While you are there check out the race schedule. There are some interesting changes to be aware of with the race schedule this season.

  • All age classes will have an opportunity to earn points in the “qualifier races”.
  • These races are on the schedule and as you can see we are hosting two of these races at Wintergreen and the others are at Beech mountain and Sugar mountain the following weekend.
  • The points earned at qualifier races will go with you to championships and give you a head start over those with fewer points. You take the points you earn at Championships add them to the points you earn from the regular season qualifier races. The one with the most points wins.
  • The idea to have points from the regular season races is not new in SARA and last season was the first to have no points/credit from regular season races in a number of years.

WTG will participate in all Qualifying races as a team. We will focus training and resources to make sure we perform well at these events. In these events it is important to earn as many points as you can and to take points away from competitors to ensure your best possible result at championships.

The Race team will have assigned coaches to age classes this season and your coaches will try to be at some of your events. The events we will travel to as a team are listed below.

  • Bryce Dec 28 th GS
  • Bryce Dec 29 th SL
  • Snowshoe Jan 10 th GS (J1-3 only)
  • Massanutten Jan 10 th GS (J-4-6 only)
  • Wintergreen Jan 23 rd GS (qualifier)
  • Wintergreen Jan 24 th SL (qualifier)
  • Beech Jan 30 th SL (qualifier)
  • Sugar Jan 31 st GS (qualifier)
  • Wintergreen Feb 15 th SL (Presidents day, Monday)

Championships will be at snowshoe for older ages and Timberline for younger ages.

When we are scheduled to be at an away race we will not have training at Wintergreen. Some of the races are split age classes on the same day. That means we will have coaches at two races at different mountains on the same day.

Copper Camp

We currently have our largest group signed up for the Copper camp. I have five coaches going including Doug Dahnke our Freeride head coach to help with the freeride athletes who are going. The Snowboard Grand Prix will be at Copper on the second half of the week as they were last year. This adds a lot of excitement and given the amount of snow the Rockies have gotten so far we should have excellent conditions.

If you are interested in going to Copper I am still able to take registrations and get you signed up. I will have to close this soon so if you still want to go let me know by Wednesday November 11 th. This will be the very last date to sign up.

The training schedule for this season for all teams will be out soon. There are not many changes from previous years. We basically practice every weekend 7:45am-11am. We will start for Returning Race and Freeride team members on November 28 th and 29 th . This practice is very important for all athletes as we will be looking at equipment and setting goals for the season. If you miss this practice you will be behind in getting everything you can from the program. With the resort scheduled to open on Dec 12 th we will not have practice on Dec 5 th and 6 th . We will resume practice on December 12 th and 13 th and use what terrain we have available to get used to making turns again. Look for the training schedule with more info to come out by the end of next week.

We will offer boot fitting, helmet adjustments, waxing and other equipment adjustments in our much larger workshop area again this year. All coaches agree that most junior boots need flex adjustments despite the manufacturers’ best efforts. We see this practice throughout the country and we typically need to correct the flex in 20 to 30 pair each season. We will continue to offer this service however we will have to charge a nominal fee this year to cover the cost of time and materials.

We will also look to provide race specific private lessons and clinics in afternoon sessions to team members only. We hope to run this process out of our new improved Trailer/workshop area. I will keep you informed of all offered changes.

Freestyle sports has done a fantastic job of gearing up race inventory for the season.  They have plenty of equipment and gear.  Existing team member receive a discount.  PLEASE remember to schedule an appointment if your athlete needs boot fitting or extensive equipment selection.  You may schedule the appointment through Sepp Kober or Don Cochrane at 434-978-4091.  Please remember that during specific busy times such as the weekend of the Charlottesville swap November 6 th, 7 th & 8 th as well as Thanksgiving Weekend that appointments are not available.  Also remember not to discuss discount details in front of the retail customer.  Due to the economy, most products will not be available all season.  Manufactures numbers are down so ski shops will run out of selections earlier than normal this season.

Soon the wintergreen race team web site will have an updated “equipment exchange” tab where you can sell and buy used clothes and equipment. Select the following link to go to the site. http://wtgraceteam.org/

Winter Teams update
September 2009

September marks the end of summer. Back to school and the routine of study and learn will feed daydreams of snow and speed. How great it will feel to click in or strap in sometime in early December! Whether you are on the freeride team or ski race or development team now is the time to use these thoughts of winter to prepare and put things into perspective for the upcoming season.

Things to think about and to ask yourself as a Wintergreen Team member

  • Am I prepared physically for the winter season? Jogging, stretching, sprinting, jumping are all great parts of a routine to be in shape for the season but they don’t help if you are not doing them. Start a routine now and look for creative aerobic activities to make it more enjoyable. Make sure your routine is challenging and that it is at least 30 minutes in length.
  • How much time will I be able be on the snow this winter? The answer to this question will determine how much you progress in a single season. It is not so much trying to get more days on the mountain, we all know your parents have to drive you here, but how you use your time when you are here. Do you spend more time in the Dome(game room) or on the snow? When you are on the snow are you working on what your coaches have talked to you about during practice times or are you just sliding?
  • Am I interested in competing or just being a part of a club? Either one is great! We want you to be happy with your experience at the mountain and we love that you want to be here. If you are serious about competing in the events we and other resorts are offering we want to help you succeed. If you want to just slide around with your friends and not compete that is great to. Please think about this question and let your coaches and your parents know early in the season so we can focus our attention where it is needed.  We will make an effort to assign coaches for the entire season. This means we need to know what your goals are before the season starts. It will take some effort on both sides to make this happen.

Things to start looking at

  • Equipment. Without pulling everything out at once and making a big mess for your parents. Write down a list of every piece of your winter equipment. Over the next few weeks go through the list and see if everything is in order;  are boots to small?, are gloves to small?, can you find your goggles?, Is all your stuff in one bag?. As you go through check off your list. The more you are in tune with your equipment and the process of keeping it together the better prepared you will be for competition day.
  • Have you renewed your USSA or USASA membership?
  • Do you know what age class you are in?

Don freak out if you can’t answer any of the above questions. There is plenty of time to get most of this in order.

Copper Camp

We have a lot of interest in the camp at Copper Mountain Colorado and we have members from Freeride and Race teams signed up. If you are interested in going please send an email as it will help with preplanning and booking lodging at the resort. I am attaching again the registration form for your convenience. October 15 th is the deadline to sign up for this camp but you should let me know if you are interested soon. Thank you

Coaching for teams this winter

Our core coaching staff will be back this year. Without this core staff of dedicated individuals it would be hard to give all of our team members what the coaching they need. We are also lucky to have coaches that travel in and out of our region and give us some of their time as there schedule allows. I am happy to say that one of our ex WTG racers is back in the area and I hope to have her working this winter. She seems excited about the possibility of coaching our kids. Other than the core coaches it is always a mystery who will show up to coach teams each winter. Lets face it we do not live in ski country and there are not a lot of qualified candidates available to coach our kids. I am sure there will be some coaches for all teams that show up in our hiring process that we have never heard from.

On the ski race side we will attempt to assign coaches to age groups this year. This is something we have tried in the past with varying results. The problem is that we have different skill levels within each age class. That means we have to switch around activities and drills to successfully challenge individuals. We do understand that kids like to be with kids their own age and we will continue to try to make it work with the coaching resources we have.

When we travel to away races we will look to send more coaches. One of the things that has happened in SARA over the last few years is we have added more races. We have more than twice as many races on the schedule than we had 10 years ago. This makes it impossible to send a coach to every race. We will again come up with a list of races we will participate in as a team and send coaches to those races. At least two coaches that the kids are seeing in practices will be at every race and we will try to send three coaches to races in an effort make the experience as good as it can be.

Updates for the winter

I will continue sending weekly updates to teams this winter. Look for updates starting again in October as I will be out of the office from September 15 th- October 15 th.
Registration for teams will happen online again this winter.  I will send an announcement as soon as this option comes online.
I am looking for a new video camera. I am looking for an HD camera with a hard drive instead of cassette tapes.  If anyone has video camera knowledge or connections please let me know.

Wintergreen Teams "Camp at Copper Mountain"

Each year in early December the Ski race and Freeride team members are encouraged to participate in the "Camp at Copper". The camp is three or six days (your choice) of skiing or snowboarding with Wintergreen coaches at Copper Mountain in Colorado. Copper offers great early season terrain and our team members can get a great start to the season. Coaches focus on fundamental drills and for the racers we offer private training lanes and for the free riders terrain parks and superpipe sessions.

At camp the following is provided; lodging, meals, lift passes, coaching/instruction, private training area, transportation to and from airport, after ski activities and supervision if needed. Parents and families are welcome and are offered the discounted rates. It has become a popular family trip with the kids participating in practices each day and the parents skiing in small groups or solo. We also offer some adult clinics while we are there.

The dates for the camp for December 2009 are the 5th through the 13th and there are three options to choose from.

  1. Team members can travel on Saturday the 5th and ski/ride the 6th - 8th and travel back on the 9th
  2. or they can travel out on the 9th ski/ride the 10th-12th and travel back on the 13th
  3. or they can travel out the 5th and ski/ride the 6th-12th and travel back on the 13th (six days on snow).

Fill out the attached form and email it back to me to participate.

Race Team News

SARA meetings have concluded for the spring on a very positive note. All clubs in the tri-state region seem to be getting along and looking for fair and equal improvements that benefit all clubs.

One exciting change back to allowing points from regular season races for all ages classes to be carried into championships was voted in. After the results from Last season and the home mountains of championships taking the majority of the medals everyone agreed that this would be the best way to go. I will update more on these changes later and make sure everyone understands the new points procedures.

The Official race schedule is not posted on the SARA website but I can tell you that Wintergreen will host three USSA races this season. One full weekend of racing with a GS race on Saturday, January 23 rd followed by a SL the next day, Sunday January 24 th. These races will be SARA points races where you can earn points to carry into champs. We will also host a USSA SL on Monday February 15 th. This race seemed to work well last year so we will try and make it a tradition.

Race and Freeride camp
Copper Colorado December 5 th-13 th

We will once again offer this camp for the winter teams. We will offer the 3 day (on snow) and 6 day (on snow) options. We will also offer the 3 day option at the beginning or end of the week as we have in the past.

Race and D-teamers will continue to get coaching and dedicated lane training as well as Coppers’ full Nastar GS training during the camp.

Freeride members will be able to utilize Coppers’ early season super pipe and the new indoor freeride facility “Woodward at Copper”.

There will be an additional adult race/Ski training option this year as we try to encourage masters racing and over all ski improvement for parents this coming season.

Mark the dates on your calendar and send me an email if you know you will participate so I can start compiling a roster. I will have official registration forms out to you soon.

Wintergreen Race team Boosters

The new officers of the parents group along with the retiring officers were at Lake Monocan last month to talk about the upcoming season. The new officers have many ideas and suggestions for the programs. All of these ideas were presented on paper and we are going to work together to try and come up with solutions.

The top priority from this group is that the program needs to provide better quality in what we do and that we need to offer more of it. It is understandable that we are limited in what we can offer given the resources we have at the resort and It could be that the program gets an overhaul which could require making some parts of the program smaller to improve quality and quantity of coaching and training space and time. I will be meeting with the new officers as we come up with solutions and I will keep you all posted on any changes made.

Winter Teams Update
February 3 2009
All teams will have practice this weekend Feb 7 th and 8 th at 7:45am

I want to thank Olivia Voslow for helping to clear the slope after our race on January 24 th. I omitted her name in my last update. Also remember all J1 2 and 3s are welcome and encouraged to help clear the slope after races.

Parents, you might have learned a new word after practice this last weekend. If you heard your athlete mutter the word scrotater this week and you were wondering what it meant, it is a word we came up with to describe a skier who skids and rotates rather than carving. We used these words to encourage the different skills and to help the kids learn and know there abilities. Just remember there is a place and time for everything but nobody wants to be a scrotater forever. We will make sure all scrotaters in our program get the info and training they need and learn to be carvers.

USSA Slalom race date changed to Monday February 16 th!

The Update last week mentioned a Slalom race here at Wintergreen on Sunday Feb 8 th. There was not a technical delegate available for the race so we decided to host it instead on Monday February 16 th  (Presidents day Weekend). I am sorry If this caused any inconvenience. This does however give us more time to prepare. I do realize that some of you might have school on that day but this was the only day left to host a slalom race for SARA athletes before championships.

Sign up through the SARA website for the Winterplace race or send me an email and I will put you on the start list.

J 1 2 and 3 Championships will be held at Sugar Mountain North Carolina February 21 st and 22 nd

This is not a change from the original schedule but there are some differences between Sugar Mountain and the Resorts in Virginia that will ultimately result in SARA splitting into two separate organizations. Things were so bad between the resorts recently that there was talk of splitting midseason and rescheduling champs. This did not happen and instead will be addressed at the spring meeting. The way things stand now Wintergreen Resort would vote yes on splitting from Sugar (and all NC resorts) and forming our own organization. I will keep you all posted but for now we will participate in Champs at Sugar and we will say goodbye after Champs.

Something to remember this weekend.

February 6-8, 2009
WinterFest Weekend

A weekend for friends and family. Enjoy ski racing, a Lost & Found fashion show, and keep your eyes on the lookout for the Secret Skier. It's a carnival complete with your favorite carnival food. Come twilight join the Glow Stick Man in the parade of Glow Sticks. Blue Mountain Brewery will be on hand with delicious seasonal microbrews and all your regular favorites.

Winter Teams Update
January 28, 2009

Mid season report
Lots of snow. Wintergreen is 100% open. We expect great training conditions for the rest of the season.

Our Wintergreen USSA GS race was successful this past Saturday. We had a total of 118 racers. Thank you to all volunteers from registration to hand timers and gate keepers. You all helped to make the event as great as it was.

Thank you to Steve LaHaye for helping to clear the hill of all gates and netting after the race. Please remember all J1 and 2 boys and girls are welcome to help with clean up after a race.

We also had a very successful Double-cross event with a lot of excitement and some great results. Remember there are two more double cross events February 15 and February 28.

Important notice!

In an effort to make Wintergreen a safe place to ski we are asking that all Wintergreen team members ski and ride a little slower after practice times, in designated slow ski and high traffic areas. We have made an effort at the mountain to post patrollers at slow ski areas to watch for out of control and unsafe speeds. Please be aware that most team members are very visible and so even if just a couple are spotted going too fast it will reflect on all of us. Parents please take a moment to mention this to your team members. It is a great midseason reminder for everyone. Thank you.

Race Team

There will be practice at Wintergreen this weekend at 7:45am. There are also races at Snowshoe GS (J 1-3 only) and Massanutten GS (J4-6 only). I know some of you will go to the Snowshoe race on Sunday as the Monday race “Cup Run” is the following day. We will have a coach at both races for those attending. Please reply now and let me know if you will go to Snowshoe or Massanutten on Sunday.

We will host another USSA race here at Wintergreen. We will host the USSA SL race that Winterplace had to cancel in early January. We will host this race on Sunday February 8 th. If you need another race to qualify for champs this will work for you and you will not have to travel to another mountain. The race will be for all age classes.

Freeride Team
Practice this weekend at Wintergreen at 7:45am. There is also a Snowboard Slopestyle event Sunday the 1st here at Wintergreen. Call the ski office at 434-325-2100 for more information.

Wintergreen Teams Update
 January 2, 2009

Practice for all teams this weekend at 7:45 am. Congratulations to all athletes who competed this past week. The Freeride team had a Rail Jam, the D-team had a race the end of camp and the race team had races at Bryce Resort. We had a busy week with a lot of activity for all team members. Thank you all for your participation. I hope to see you all at practice this weekend.

There was a Jacket left at the parents meeting on the 27 th. If you are missing a jacket call me and identify it and I will get it to you.

Freeride Team
Your coaches will start the process of tracking your development this weekend. There will be sessions with coaches filling out development sheets with you. The process does not take very long so there will be plenty of time for riding. I hope to see you all here this weekend.

Your training schedule has a mistake. The date of January 25 th say there is no practice. The head coach Doug Dahnke has said there will be practice. Keep in mind that date is the first Doublecross race as well.

Race Team
Everyone should be signed up for the Snowshoe races next weekend. If you have not registered please go to the SARA site and register now as the deadline is coming up.

The races will be held on the Silver Creek side of Snowshoe and the lodging option that is the closest is Silver Creek lodge. I believe there is still availability as of today. The number to central reservation at Snowshoe is 877-441-4386. If you are looking for people to share rides or lodging with you should come to warm-ups at 7:45am Saturday morning and you can talk with other parents about it. Hopefully we can create a network to help with this.

This weekend we will train Slalom on Saturday and GS on Sunday.

Practice this weekend.

Winter Teams Update
November 13 th 2008

It is cold and rainy on the mountain and there are rumors of possible snowmaking in the near future. It won’t be long until we get to do what we love, ski and ride. With all the teams under one roof this year the updates will be on one page unless there is a need for separate information. I will make headers within the updates for individual teams (Freeride, Race and Development) to make it easy enough to decipher. If there is no header then the information is applicable to all teams.

First things first, there is a new method to registration this year. This online process is designed to make life easier on you the customer and the ones who have to manage all the data. Click on this link to register and make payment for D-team, Race team or Freeride team. This link can also be found on the Wintergreen website on the Winter Teams page. You will need to register through this process before you can participate in practices so go ahead and get it done now. Thank you.

Race Team and Freeride Team
The first practice for both Race and Freeride will be on November 29 thand 30 th at 8am. We will be doing dryland activities and physical fitness testing. We will also be delivering Christmas trees to members who have pre ordered. This is a fundraiser to benefit the teams. To order a tree call activities 434-325-8180. We will also be doing some team building exercises that will help us all get to know each other better. We will have coaches from both teams present for the weekend.  We hope to promote a “one team” atmosphere that will also allow for cross training and participation.

Freeride Team
Regular season practices will start on December 27 th. Freeride team members who were on the team last year will not have to tryout this year. You will need to register and make payment before you can start practice. Getting this done early will also make it easier for us to plan for the season so go ahead and register now if you know you will participate.

Development Team
Development team will start practice on December 27 th with the Holiday race camp. Check your attached schedule for other interesting dates.

As always if you have any questions or if you just want to chat about the coming winter send me an email or give me a call. I am looking forward to seeing and working with all of you on the snow this winter.

Wintergreen Ski Race update
October 15, 2008

Hello from Wintergreen. I hope this finds everyone in good health and ready for an exciting winter of ski racing. I am back on the mountain full time now so if you have anything you wish to talk about please don’t hesitate to call or email.

First things first I want to let everyone know that the trip to Copper is very popular again this year and I have a lot of people signed up. There is still room if anyone is interested but you need to let me know as soon as possible. I will close sign up the 4 th of November so you have some time but I would like to hear from you if you are considering. I am attaching a copy of the registration for your convenience.

We will be sending out a packing list and other information soon and if you have any questions please call or email.

Next I want to give you the list of races that we will participate in as a team for this coming season. I make this list each year from the available races in SARA. Some of the things that I look for is to make the required number of races to qualify for championships, make sure that we have a good mix of training and racing and that we are not traveling on consecutive weekends look for races that include all age classes. The following works well for the beginning of the season. Then there is a bit of a problem with the weekend of Feb 7 th and 8 th that I will ask your opinion on. Mark these on your calendar.

Bryce GS 12/29/08
Bryce SL  12/30/08
Snowshoe SL 1/10/09
Snowshoe GS 1/11/09
Wintergreen GS 1/24/09
Wintergreen Skier cross 1/25/09
2/07/09 Open date
2/08/09 Open date

On the last two open dates the only options are Timberline and Sugar/Beech. The problem with Timberline is that the races are only open to a few age classes and of course the problem with Sugar/Beech is that the J12and3 championships are at Sugar and I know those folks don’t want to go down there twice in two weeks. So for the moment I will keep these dates open and we will make a decision later on. If you have a preference on these dates let me know.

I will be completing a training schedule soon and I will get that out in another update. Again I hope everyone is well and I look forward to seeing you all here on the snow at Wintergreen.

Letter to the Members:

First, I’m writing to thank everyone who helped make last weekend’s races such a success. This includes the parent volunteers, Chris and his staff, and Gordon Hahn who quite simply provided the best “announcing” and background music I’ve ever heard at a ski race. Way to go Gordon … the Beatles were awesome.

Special thanks are due Wintergreen for making terrain available, and the mountain operations team for making that terrain suitable for a race. Did you see how much of Big Acorn they sacrificed to push enough snow over to build a race course? Please make a point of thanking Jay Roberts and his team when you get a chance; they work very hard so that we can play.

Second, remember that we have another race, J4-6 Championships, coming up on March 1 st and 2 nd.  We’ll need lots of volunteers to make this race happen, so please help us out. Sandy Davis will be sending out a volunteer signup schedule next week. If you can’t volunteer, come out and cheer the racers on, both on the slopes and at the banquet.

Third, for those of you who donated items for last year’s silent auction, if you signed the form we circulated at the annual meeting, your tax receipt is on its way. If you didn’t sign that form, please let Sandy Davis know what you contributed so we can get your receipt to you.

Finally, race season has been extremely busy, and we simply weren’t able to get this year’s silent auction organized for Presidents’ Day weekend. We now plan to run the auction during Championships, and will have a table set up at the banquet, and perhaps during race day registration. Rick Metsch is skiing in Montana (poor guy), so Nigel Willis has agreed to coordinate donations and volunteers to help pull this event off. There will be meeting Saturday at 8:30 a.m. in the Mountain Inn for planning the Auction. Nigel is looking for people to help out with the Auction from both the Race and Development Teams. The success of this event will be largely determined by the level of volunteer support as helpers as well as donors. You can reach Nigel at 703.969.4466 or 434.325.2142, Wintergreen. The auction is our primary fundraiser, so please donate what you can, and then bid early and bid often. We found vacation property rentals especially valuable last year, and miscellaneous ski gear, lessons donated by our coaches, and other sundry items all proved valuable. Smaller items such as food baskets also do well. I personally like to buy something at Freestyle, even a gift certificate, and then donate it to the auction. This helps Freestyle while it helps the club, and I get a tax deduction.

Sincerely,

Tom LaHaye

J1-J3 Champs at Massanutten

Dear J1-J3 Parents:  We are already looking forward to Champs at Massanutten on 2/23 & 2/24.  Since we always have so much fun when we're together, we thought we would offer an opportunity to book lodging for champs as a group.  We have a block of rooms reserved available for check-in Friday 2/22 and check-out Sunday 2/24 at the Holiday Inn on 33 in Harrisonburg.  For those Hilton/Marriott fans, there is a large band festival in town that weekend and many other hotels were sold out of rooms with two beds.  The Holiday Inn has been just been fully renovated (all furnishings & bedding are brand new), it has a restaurant and lounge on site and has an indoor pool!

The rate for our group will be $79.00/night.  The website quotes the same available rate but requires an advance purchase.  Our rate just requires a credit card to hold the reservation but NO advance purchase is required.  We've reserved rooms with two beds but if you prefer one, just mention that when you call.

If you would like to join in on this group booking, simply call the Holiday Inn directly at 540-433-2521 and ask to book a room with the Wintergreen Race Team.  Please also email me to let me know that you are booked so I may monitor how many rooms we are holding.

Here's the link if you would like hotel info: www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/1/en/hotel/HBREM/welcome

Please feel free to email me or call me at 434-825-5159 if you have any questions about this group booking.  We're looking forward to seeing you there!
